1 Samuel 13:14 (NIV)
14 But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.”

Acts 13:22 (NIV)
22 After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’

1 Samuel 16:10-13 (NIV)
10 Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.”
11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

Samuel reluctantly raised up and blessed King Saul.
But his primary destiny was to train and raise up King David.

Samuel becomes an earthly manifestation of what the Spirit of God is doing in the earth even now.

Just as Samuel searched through the many sons of Jesse, so the Spirit is searching through the Body of Christ to raise up a Royal Priesthood who is identified by “being after the heart of God”.

Saul wanted the hand of God. David wanted the heart of God.

Saul is identified by religious fear. David is identified by praise filled faith.

The Hebrew word for “heart” means the inward appetites, affections, and emotions.

Equip’s positioning at Reliance is a positioning in the spirit at David’s gate and is clearly about the Lord’s intention to raise up a kingly people who are after the heart of the Lord before their desire for the hand of the Lord.
