1 John 4:18 (ESV)
18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
1 John 4:18 (AMPC)
18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection].
You don’t need to focus on getting fear out of your life by your own effort.
Perfect Love will cast it out!
I personally realized that I don’t need to focus on being perfect in ministry and behavior as much as having love perfected in me.
John 15:9 (ESV)
9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.
Abiding means to remain in and live in.
Three Practicals for Abiding in Love
1. Receive the Holy Spirit’s pouring out of love:
Romans 5:5 (ESV)
5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
2. Prayer for strength in the inner man to know the love of God:
Ephesians 3:18-19 (ESV)
18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
3. Obedience:
John 15:10 (ESV)
10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
